Documentary Extra Credit – Love Me

I watched a documentary called “Love Me”. It washout mail order brides from Ukraine. The documentary focused in on 5 men, Robert, Eric, Bobby, Ron and Travis. The men talked about how they haven’t found the right woman yet and that they need help. They were introduced to some of these online websites from friends such as Loveme.com and elenas models. These men joined a tour to visit the Ukraine and go to 3 mixers that would introduce them to a bunch of single ladies. The ratio in Ukraine is 87/100 (men/woman) so many woman in the Ukraine look for husbands elsewhere.

Once in the Ukraine the men entered their first mixer. At the mixer the men were told to “introduce themselves and find themselves a wife!” Within the first 10 minutes all the men were being social talking to as many women as they could. At the end of the mixer a couple men were infatuated with certain women, while others didn’t seem to find her yet. The second mixer was like a walk in the park being that they just did the same thing last night. The men were talking to women and each of them found someone that they thought they could see themselves with forever. Now the only thing was did the woman feel the same way?

It went deeper into each relationship while still in Ukraine and the men and women seemed to really like each other. There were many dates the men went on to know the women a little better. Some the woman couldn’t speak english so there was a translator on the date as well. Many of them chose to get married to the women right away. The women had to go through customs in the Ukraine to be able to come to the U.S. They all were able to go to the U.S. except one woman wanted to stay since her kids were in the Ukraine. Later the movie let us know that she was a scam artist and just used the websites for money to pay for her family. In the end 3 people were married but 1 ended in a divorce. The other two ended happily and one couple was pregnant and couldn’t be more happy together.

This movie was interesting to watch. I’ve always heard about mail order brides just never really thought it could be really something people would want to do. It showed that you can find love anyway, you just have to put yourself out there.

Final Project Synopsis

My final is just a short video about my horse and I over the last five years. I got the idea from something I wrote about him when it was our five year anniversary on Facebook. I decided to take some of the lines from it and changed them a bit and turn it into a small video. I used old and new footage of us. I used some pictures. The pictures I used were from the day I bought him and the day that we put the sign up saying I owned him. Then I used five pictures, for every years that I owned him.

Here is the script: November 4, 2010  was the best day of my life. On that day the horse of my dreams became mine.We have had our good days. But I’m lucky enough to call you my boy. These past five years have been the best years of my life. For Five years you’ve been my rock through the good times and the bad. And for that, I can’t thank you enough. Here’s to another amazing five years, Armani.

And here is the original post that I wrote that gave me the idea: Five years ago today was the best day of my life. Five years ago the horse of my dreams became mine. Five years does not seem like a long time but to put that in perspective, I graduated high school, went to community college, graduated from there and now I am at a four year university. I finally figured out my major. I have had many ups and many downs. Yet, you have been the one constant thing in my life. I don’t know how or if I would have gotten through all of it without you. You are the greatest thing in my life. You have been since we met. I am lucky enough to call you my boy. My everything. You’ve saved my ass more than a few times. You put up with my BS. You make me laugh. You make me smile. You cheer me up when I am in a bad mood. You have an attitude. You are lazy. You are a pain in the ass sometimes but to be honest I wouldn’t have it any other way. You’re my perfect boy and I don’t know what I would do without you. I love you. I love you so much. Happy five year anniversary Armani!

Both have successful jobs with one being engaged and the other planning to throw him a bachelor party to celebrate the occasion. They eventually plan a football party together for the next day and go on their own ways soon after.

There is a little bit of humor in the dialogue although it’s very conversational.
